Mercedes Maybach Brabus

If there's one mantra that every supercar manufacturer lives by it's that more is more. And if there's one manufacturer that's willing to pour the most moreness into its cars it's German tuner,

Brabus.

Which is precisely what it's done to the already-stretched, already-turned-up-to-eleven 6.0-litre V12 Mercedes-Maybach S600. Gone is the original car's piffling 523bhp output; it's subdued, featureless leather interior; it's tiny 20-inch wheels...

To create the Rocket 900 Brabus rebored the engine to 6.3 litres, fitted a new billet crankshaft with forged pistons, upgraded the turbochargers and attached them to larger intake manifolds. Then, to keep the temperature down under the bonnet, it fitted real gold heat shields.

The results are as you'd expect from a company that feeds the energy created in its engine testing room into Germany's national grid (no, really). It has 900 metric horsepower (888bhp in old money), 1,106lb ft of torque, a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 217mph. That's Ferrari FF-fast. And 0.1 seconds faster than anAston Martin Vantage V12.

There's no official word on what it'll sell for yet, but seeing as the miserly Mercedes-Maybach S600 starts at £166,000, you can expect as much moreness in the pricetag as you should under the bonnet. Still, at least you don't have to pay for a chauffer any more.
